Description
FOCUS: Understanding how material, vegetation loss, and built density concentrate heat in Delhi and identifying opportunities for community-integrated cooling.
APPROACH:
Urban environmental research - causes, heat maps, and climatic data
Study of Delhi-specific UHI drivers such as pollution, hardscaping, and barriers to air circulation
Evidence-based proposal for biological and spatial solutions combined.
Strategy framing through the principles of sustainability, indigenous practices, and passive cooling.
CONCEPT:
Introducing green micro-interventions: moss-based cooling systems, shading structures, and breathable urban zones that:
Reduce surface heating
Improve local air quality
Restore thermal comfort in public spaces
Encourage the use of materials responsive to climate
The concept underscores that cooling interventions need to become part of daily life in cities, not isolated beautification projects.
Info
Explore the Urban Heat Island effect in Delhi and design effective, sustainable, and scalable interventions to offset the rising surface and ambient temperatures of the city's dense zones.
